Consultation

Prior to any pathway being published to the live site, it undergoes a consultation process.

Consultation is a critical part of the HealthPathways development process where health professionals and service providers from across the South Australian public health sector are invited to consult on draft pathways. The consultation process provides an opportunity for the pathway to be reviewed and feedback submitted prior to the pathway going live. Some clinicians prefer to provide more global feedback, whereas others provide very detailed feedback on specific clinical points or service information, depending on their professional role and familiarity with the topic / services.

Some groups are included in consultation to comment on very specific parts of the pathway (eg: radiologists will be included in some pathways to specifically provide feedback on the content around imaging recommendations).

It is difficult to provide an accurate estimate of the time it takes to provide consultation feedback, however, as a general rule it may take anywhere from 30 minutes up to several hours depending on the level of detail you wish to provide.

How does it work?

Consultation generally runs for 14 calendar days, and participation is by invitation.

Participants are sought via various identified networks and/or recommendations by their peers. participants receive an email indicating consultation is open for a specific pathway along with a link and login details to access the draft pathway.

All feedback received is reviewed by the GP Clinical Editor and supports the HealthPathways Team with finalising the draft for publication to the live HealthPathways SA portal.

How can I be involved?

All current work in progress is listed on the Pathway Progress page.

To register your interest in being involved with current pathways in consultation or future consultations, e-mail the HealthPathways SA Team indicating the pathway/s or your clinical area of interest.
